THE UK’S LARGEST HORSE SANCTURY

The lovely people at Redwings Horse Sanctuary now have five visitor centres nationally. One is in Aylsham, and has now been established for four years.

Redwings are open Friday – Monday every week from 10am until 4pm.
They close for the rest of the week to allow them to get on with their work introducing and rehabilitating new residents and to give the more nervous members a bit of peace and quiet. Entry is free, and the centre has a good children’s’ play area and a café. You can visit the horses, ponies, mules and donkeys who live there, and sponsor them too — a perfect gift and souvenir of your holidays in Aylsham.
What do they do?
Redwings is the UK’s largest horse sanctuary. They believe that every horse, pony, donkey and mule has the right to a happy and healthy life, free of fear and neglect. They rescue abandoned, mistreated and neglected horses and donkeys from across the UK, giving them a safe place to live and providing essential veterinary treatment, rehabilitation and lifelong care.
They care for over 1,500 horses, ponies, donkeys and mules every single day at their sanctuary sites around the UK. It’s one of the things that makes Redwings so special. If they rescue a horse who cannot be ridden or rehomed, whether that’s for health or behavioural reasons, they will always have a safe and loving home at one of their sanctuaries.
